Spring came but never left

Paper notes to a fellow human, I - VIII

To a fellow human, I

In the face of change and destruction, when Homo sapiens no longer co-habit this planet, life, in some form, will persist. Possibly incubate itself, and then thrive. I don’t know. We can only predict and imagine. Perhaps other living forms will get to see it, to feel its gush and fervour. Nature is feverous in the way it persists, howls, thunders, and quietly flows. Gently swaying the leaves of a tree, swirling the seeds of a flower to some other place where it will grow.

Nature, bursting into hot and cold sweats – in concrete jungles, drying lakes and bountiful plantations, life resists. We may be ardent and fierce fighters, but the agents of nature are ancient warriors. Knowing the subterranean passageways, deep, deep trenches, and gaps between our tectonic plates. Oozing lava and burning, violent rocks. Underwater shortcuts and alleyways from one continent to the next. Nature knowing all the tricks of its trade.

We came through, in all that has happened to us – and in all that we have done. We are always given enough oxygen to breathe, enough water to drink. So I guess, spring came but never left.
